On Monday 26 January 2009, Australians will gather to celebrate
the nation and culture that we have become. Once again Lotterywest,
Channel Seven, MIX 94.5 and the City of Perth are proud to present to
Western Australia the largest celebration in the country, Lotterywest
Australia Day Celebrations Skyworks 2009. This will be the 25th
Skyworks for the people of Perth and indeed the people who travel from
around the State to view the spectacular display of fireworks unlike
any previously seen in Western Australia. This
is an event that
requires City officers to work closely with Australia
Day event organisers and the City of Perth to manage the impact of
the
event on local residents. The City has responded to your feedback from
previous years events to improve the event management through the Safer
Australia Day Strategy for
2009. This year, an internationally renowned Explosive Entertainment
team that provided the magnificent fireworks at the recent Commonwealth
Games has been appointed to create an incredible kaleidoscope of colour
and light to thrill and excite everyone. Expect to find an audience of
300,000 people joining you on the foreshore to celebrate this fantastic
milestone. The spectacular event will be captured by
the many Channel Seven camera’s in strategic locations around the
foreshore and telecast later in the evening for anyone that was unable
to get to there or even those who want to rush home and relive the
magic moment again.
